The research project must address the following points:

  • Introduction and theoretical framework/key concepts;
  • State of the field and literature review, including bibliography;
  • Research questions and hypothesis;
  • Planned methodology and schedule/timeframe;
  • Research rationale;
  • Expected results.

The length of the Research Project must be between 3500 and 5500 words.

Please upload a PDF file. The recommendation letters must clearly indicate why the proposed research project is relevant to the FIFA Research Scholarship objectives as per Art. 2 of the Regulations. The letters should also address the methodology, the choice of the topic, the candidate’s skills and previous achievements and the candidate’s ability to successfully complete projects.
If a candidate has already applied for a FIFA Research Scholarship, the recommendation letters must be new and the author must justify his/her support in regard to the new application.

If a football organisation supports the research project, a third non-mandatory supporting letter from the football family (any sport organisation linked with football) can also be submitted. Please upload a PDF file.

Submit application

You are about to submit your application form for the FIFA Research Scholarship. Please ensure that you have completed all the required fields and uploaded all the mandatory documents. When ready, please press the "Submit" button. If you have forgotten to fill out a mandatory field, it will be highlighted so that you can see where it is located in the application form. The completed application file (personal and project data + supporting documentation) will automatically be transmitted to CIES. Please note that once you have pressed the “Submit” button, you cannot modify any data or documents any more.
